The ministry helps these children in need by feeding them, clothing them, and helping them financially. We also host events such as the annual Toys Explosion, School Supplies Giveaway, Children's Day, and "In-Between" Events- Movie & Popcorn, Dinner with Family, and much more. In addition to helping fatherless children, the program also helps children facing major illnesses, including children of St. Jude's Children Hospital.
Contributions to the Father for the Fatherless Program help provide: food, clothing, money, and recreational activities for these children.
Pregnant Teen Seminar and Follow Up Program
The Pregnant Teen Seminar and Follow Up Program help Pregnant Teens that are in or out of school, ages 12 to 19 years old. Young women are taught about the changes occurring in their bodies during and after pregnancy. Pregnant teens have the opportunity to hear from women that have been in similar situations and how they overcame the obstacles of being a young mother and the importance of finishing school. The program teaches these young women that their child is not a mistake, but a decision they made and one that must be taken very seriously. Work shops include: "Your Life is Not Over", "You are Not Alone", "Someone Loves You and the Unborn". Seminar participants receive healthy food and drinks, bags with items for baby and mom.
The ministry continues to check on the mother and baby for a period after the child is born. They can also choose to enroll in the Pregnant Teen Prevention Program or the Better Babies Program to help them stay focused and stay in school.
Contributions to the Pregnant Teen Seminar will go toward hosting the seminar, baby products for mothers, as well as necessities for the mother.
Pregnant Teen Prevention Program
The Pregnant Teen Prevention Program teaches young girls, ages 9 to 19 years old about the importance of self-respect, believing in themselves, loving themselves, staying in school and the importance of abstinence until marriage. Young ladies can participate in Work Shops teaching them about sex and diseases, their body, and also valuables skills such as sewing and cooking. Volunteers and professionals help educate the ladies on these and many other topics. Those participating in the program are able to form friendships and a sisterhood, have outings such as game days, shopping, and other activities, rather than find themselves in compromising situations.
Contributions to this program will help purchase items these young ladies need such as clothing, school supplies, and food as well as items needed to host work shops and other activities including cooking supplies, food, sewing machines, and fabric. Any donations will help a young lady stay on the path to saying no to sex until marriage and make a tremendous difference in a their life.
Teen Fathers Program
The Teen Fathers Program is a branch of the Pregnant Teen Seminars. We work with the teen mothers and extend the invitation to the fathers as well so that they may learn what it means to be a responsible and committed father. We reinforce the importance of finishing school and furthering their education. We assist in preparing them for the work force, job searches, teaching them to budget and maintain support of their child. We also provide essentials such as diapers, wipes and other baby needs and have activities for father and children to be involved with to help build a bond. Participants must be involved in in-between activities, volunteer in our community services, and be a teen father under the age of 19. If you wish to register yourself or someone you know for this program, see information on "Program Registration."
Honoring Our Seniors
Each year, the Ministry takes time to honor those that have worked so diligently for us to have a better life today. During this time, we visit Senior Citizen Homes, Nursing Homes, and other Seniors that may be in need of supplies or just some encouraging words. They are treated to gifts, any necessities they may need, and most of all a good time and knowing that they are loved. We end the month with a Banquet honoring an outstanding Senior, Veterans, Cancer Survivors, and acknowledging birthdays in that month.
February 2012 will be the next Honoring the Elderly Month. We are looking forward to once again recognizing the Seniors in the community. There will be a Health Awareness Breakfast and the annual Honoring the Wise & Elderly Banquet, open to all those 55 years and older, free of charge.
Feed the Homeless
"No child, no one deserves to go a day without food."
This is a year round effort to feed the unfortunate families, children, adults, and elderly that are homeless or in shelters. We feed them with care and dignity so that they may feel loved and special. Volunteers visit homes, go into the streets, and under bridges to distribute food, drinks, bags of groceries, blankets, clothes, and most importantly- love. They are offered a word of hope, prayer, and encouraged that life can get better.
Each of these programs helps those in need in our community. We ask that you consider making a donation or volunteering your time to help us help them. Thank You for you support.
